ASI among six killed in city as violence continues

KARACHI: Six people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were killed and two others injured in different firing incidents in the city on Friday.An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Taj Mehmood, 40, son of Bakht Rehman was killed when he was standing near his house and unknown armed bike riders opened fire on him at Frontier Colony near Metrovell in Orangi Town. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for postmortem examination.Muhammad Jabbir, 30, son of Shakoor Ahmed, was killed when unidentified armed men open fire on him in New Karachi Industrial area. The body was brought to ASH for an autopsy.A 30-year-old man, Faizan, son of Sagheer Ahmed, was killed by unknown robbers on resisting on a robbery bid in North Karachi. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.Chaman Haider, 50, son of Amin Haider, was shot dead when unidentified armed men opened fire on him in Gulistan-e-Johar near Lal Flats. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.A man, aged 30, was killed by unknown armed men in Shah Latif Town. The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem examination. The identity of the victim could not ascertain yet.Separately, a man was shot dead by unknown armed men near Malir Naddi in Malir. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till last reports.Ameer Rehman, 45, son of Ashraf Khan, was shot and injured by unknown armed men in Banaras, Orangi Town. The injured was rushed to ASH for treatment.A woman, Shama, 35, daughter of Abdul Rehman, was injured when a stray bullet hit her in her house in Mohammedi Goth, Machhar Colony. The injured was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
