KARACHI: Law enforces during their ongoing drive claimed to have apprehended around 94 criminals during separate targeted raids and operations across the metropolis on Monday.
In the first happening, Karachi police claimed to have detained around 69 criminals during 73 raids and three encounters in different parts of the city. Spokesman of Sindh police claimed that 69 suspects included 12 absconders, one target killer and a terrorist, all of whom were nabbed along with their weapons.
Separately, Pakistan Rangers Sindh claimed to have captured 25 criminals during separate targeted raids conducted in various parts of the metropolis, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 1, Raghaib Garden, Korangi No 4, Dawood Chali, Landhi No 6, New Karachi Sector 6-Z, Ghariababad, Gadap, Gulshan-e-Maymar, North Nazimabad Block-H, Chanesar Goth, Rafa-e-Aam Society, Model Colony and Nursery. Spokesman of Rangers also said weapons were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
Meanwhile, a high-level security conference was held in the wake of forthcoming Chup Tazia and Rabiul Awwal 12 at HQ Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Monday.
DG Rangers Major General Rizwan Akhtar presided the meeting, while DDG Rangers, sector commanders and senior staff officers were also present.
Rangers have finalised plans and would ensure foolproof security. Temporary pickets would be established and manned round the clock.
As per the plan, snipers would be deployed on rooftops on the procession routes, while roads and streets leading to the route would be sealed.
Moreover, sniffer dogs would also be employed to clear the route coupled with aerial surveillance. Strict ban will be imposed on aerial firing and violators would be strictly dealt with. Security forces have urged ulemas of all sects to maintain peace and promote inter-sectarian harmony.
