‘Strict action if appointments made in ban period’

KARACHI: Sindh provincial secretaries should submit detailed list of the vacancies within three days failing which action would be taken against them. Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah said appointments if made during ban period would be illegal and unauthorised. Presiding over high-level meeting of provincial secretaries of Sindh he said at the very beginning of second tenure of his government, the ban on the appointment was imposed in the Cabinet meeting. He said this ban was imposed to complete the inquiries of irregularities and illegal appointments made by some departments before starting the fresh and regular appointments this year, so employment of genuine and deserving candidates could be ensured on the merit. But he has received feedback about the appointments during the ban period, which according to him were illegal and violation of ban. Qaim said personally he had paid surprise visits of Sindh Secretariat two to three time but most of secretaries were found absent, thus caused criticism on the government from various circles. He directed provincial secretaries to ensure the promotions of the officer’s officials in their departments though regular department promotion committees on the merit and justice. He said though it remained higher than other provinces in Pakistan as per assessment of the impartial organisations including media but still there was room for improvement.
