Raid on Bachat Bazaar

KARACHI: Additional Commissioner Karachi-II Haji Ahmed on Saturday visited Qayyumabad Bachat Bazaar and ordered to arrest the organiser of the Bachat bazaar and fined him Rs 100,000 due to selling fruits and vegetables on rates higher than the government price list. Ahmed checked the prices of fruits and vegetables during his surprise visit to bazaar. Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui appreciate the work of Hiji Ahmed and instructed to arrests the organizer of the bazaars if they do not control the price in their Bachat Bazaars and also fine them. He instructed that also cancel the booking of the profiteers stalls and forfeit their booking fee. He said city administration had given priority to price control so that consumers could be provided relief during the holy month of Ramazan. He further said that district administration had been asked to be vigilant and take stern action against those who were violating the price list. He said that the city administration needed help from the civil society to successfully implement the prices fixed and to continue campaign against profiteers. He said prices of vegetables and fruits were being issued daily by the market committee and uploaded on the website of the commissioner. Complaints could also be filed at phone no 021-99203443.
