KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chapter on Wednesday organised Kashmir Solidarity rally from Jail Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid.
A large number of JI workers including children, elderly men and people belonging to different walks of life attended the rally.
The participants raised party flags, banners and posters.
JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch led the rally while JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, General Secretary JI Karachi Abdul Wahab, Naib Ameers JI Karachi Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Muslim Pervez, Ameer District East Younus Barai, Information Secretary Zahid Askari, former JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, Barjees Ahmed, JI Azad Jammu and Kashmir Ameer Sagheer and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the rally, Liaquat Baloch said that peace could not be restored in the world without resolving Kashmir and Palestine issues, adding that the government should follow the National policy on Kashmir issue.
Liaquat Baloch said that more than 10 million Kashmiris were fighting for their right of self-determination for the past 66 years.
“Kashmir issue should be resolved in the light of United Nations resolutions and according with the desire of Kashmiris,” he said.
He further demanded of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) to play its due role in resolving Kashmir issue and raise its voice over the deteriorated situation in Syria, Egypt and Palestine.
Criticising the Nawaz league policies on national issues, JI secretary general opined that the strategy of the PML-N government was not reflective of the sentiments of Pakistanis.
Lambasting Musharraf policies, Liaquat Baloch said that the former dictator through his policies had damaged the cause of Kashmir and other national issues by getting involved in the war on terror after 9/11.
He further asserted that peace could not be restored through military operation or suicide attacks, and deliberations were the only way.
Addressing the rally, JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem said that the massive rallies across the world on Kashmir Day have proved that the entire Muslim Ummah stood with the people of Kashmir.
On the occasion, Hafiz Naeem urged Muslim Ummah to stand united for the resolution of Kashmir issue, adding that the PML-N should take a brave stance in order to resolve the issue in accordance with the desires of Kashmiris.
“The long struggle by Kashmiri people has told the entire world that true spirit of freedom cannot not be suppressed through tyranny,” he added.
