Arrangements reviewed to celebrate Independence Day





KARACHI: A ceremony will be held at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on August 14 to celebrate 68th Independence Day of the country. Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, said we were taking all steps to ensure foolproof security, cleanliness and traffic management in the city on this gala day in a befitting manner. The Commissioner was presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements regarding independence celebrations. Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Rauf Akhtar Farooqui and the representatives of other concerned organisations attended the meeting , said an official statement here on Tuesday. The Commissioner said that 1200 children will participate in the function at Mazar-e-Quaid; with the girls in white uniforms and green scarves. On August 12, a mini rehearsal will be held.  On August 13, there will be a full rehearsal at Mazar-e-Quaid, he said. He requested the participants of the Independence Day function at the Quaid’s mazar to occupy their seats at 8:30am on August 14 because the gates of Bagh-e-Quaid will be closed after arrival of Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan and chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
