Preventive steps must to save people from dengue


Karachi: Administrator Karachi Rauf Farooqui on Saturday said every possible step is being taken to prevent citizens from dengue virus and people should also adopt preventive measures with change of weather. He expressed these views while reviewing anti-dengue campaign launched in all districts of Karachi and provision of available resources in the lights of directives of Secretary Local Bodies Javed Hanif. Senior Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Sr Director Medical Services Dr Muhammad Ali Abbasi and other officers were also present on this occasion. Rauf Farooqui directed the municipal services department to continue fumigation as per schedule and special coverage should be given to the suburban areas of city along with urban areas in order to save people from this dangerous disease. He stressed the need of creating awareness among citizens to prevent them from dengue virus. Administrator instructed the officials to accelerate work on chemical control (spray) and biological control program to prevent from dengue virus. He said ponds of parks and other water reservoirs are major sources of dengue mosquitoes and guppy fish also utilized there to stop the breeding of mosquitoes. Senior Director Municipal Services Masood Alam said fumigation is continuing in different areas of city against dengue virus. He informed that awareness seminars about dengue disease would be held in the third week of April in order to educate or inform people about the disease and preventive strategies.
