Extortionists threatening via bombs now :  Two hurt in separate explosions

KARACHI: A man was hurt in a ball bomb hurled by unidentified assailants at Manghopir Road within the precincts of Orangi Town police station.
Police said that the incident took place when a victim namely Zulfiqar Jafer was on his way in his vehicle, when unidentified assailants riding on motorbikes hurled a ball bomb and escaped from the scene. As a result he sustained wounds and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. 
The injured person was receiving threats from extortionists, said police, adding that assailants attacked on him over refusal to pay the extortion money. 
Similarly, unidentified persons lobbed a cracker bomb at an oil shop in Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town within the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station.
Police said that unidentified armed riders lobbed a cracker bomb at the oil shop and fled from the scene. Fortunately no was hurt in the explosion. Police said that the incident occurred over refusal to pay extortion money, however further investigations are underway.
Two alleged robbers shot dead in encounters: Two alleged criminals were killed during two separate encounters with the law enforcers on Tuesday.
In the first incident, a suspected criminal was killed in an alleged encounter with the police on Shahrah-e-Quaideen within the vicinity of Ferozabad police station. 
Police said that the encounter took place when two suspects were trying to flee after robbing citizens. Reacting on information, police reached the site and had to chase the criminals who were fleeing the scene. 
The chase led to an exchange of fire that resulted in the death of one of the alleged robbers, while the other manage to escape.
The deceased suspect's body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors are trying to identify him. Meanwhile, further investigations are underway.
Separately, another suspect was killed during an exchange of fire with Rangers in Mujahid Colony area of Nazimabad. 
According to officials, two suspects on a motorcycle, who were signalled to stop by Rangers personnel positioned at a nearby check post, started firing at the check post.
In retaliation, Rangers personnel also fired back, killing one suspect on the spot while his companion managed to escape. The body of the deceased was shifted to the morgue for identification after completing medico-legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
PML-F man found dead in Surjani: A man affiliated with Muslim League-Functional was found dead from Khuda ki Basti locality within the precincts of Surjani Town police station. 
Police said that the deceased was identified as 45-year-old Zahid, son of Tahir, estate agent, who lived in the same area. Police while quoting the initial investigation said that unknown culprits kidnapped the victim and later threw his body at the abandoned spot after shooting him.
