Government’s main focus on lifeline projects: governor

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said on Thursday that some mega projects were being carried out in and out of the city and some were in the pipeline, while at the moment government’s focus was the projects that were lifeline of the city. He said this while addressing a high-level meeting. The attendants of the meeting were: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Karachi Corps Commander Lt General Sajjad Ghani, Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana, Finance Adviser Syed Murad Ali Shah, Planning and Development Secretary Muhammed Waseem, Finance Secretary Sohail Rajput, Transport Secretary Talha Farooq, Karachi Administrator Rauf Akhter Farooqui, project directors of the mega projects and other relevant officers, says a Governor House release. In the meeting, the relevant officers while briefing about the mega projects including Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), K-IV, S-III, Lyari Expressway, Malir Motorway and Rapid Transport System said that the name of Malir Expressway has been changed to Malir Motorway. This project was stretched from DHA to Quaidabad - 31 km, from Quaidabad to Hino Chowrangi - 14 km, and from Hino Chowrangi to Port Qasim and Superhighway. This project also includes six bridges and is divided into three phases.
