Sindh CM orders allocation of additional funds for education

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Finance Department to allocate additional funds in Education Sector Maintenance and Repair (M and R) head in the forthcoming fiscal year 2014-15.
He also directed for the establishment of Sindh Education Fund for effective utilisation of foreign funds for the uplift and promotion of the education sector. 
Presiding over a meeting of the education and finance departments on Tuesday, he directed the education department officers to ensure all required facilities in schools especially furniture, fixture and learning items to facilitate the students and teachers.    
The meeting also agreed with the proposal to shift execution of funds utilisation under M and R head from works and services department to the authorities of education department and it was decided that the final decision in this regard would be taken in a joint meeting of both the departments.
Education and literacy Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro informed that our focus is to upgrade the existing primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, ensure all missing facilities, increase enrolment especially of female students and ensure qualitative education through administrative and institutional reforms.
Khuhro informed that he had visited many schools previously and had given instructions to the districts’ managements to ensure the availability of all essential items including furniture, safe drinking water, electricity and other facilities to provide a conducive learning environment for all the students and teaching staff.
