KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Tuesday demolished two illegal hydrants and cut 10 illegal connections in North Nazimabad’s Godhra area. On the directions of KWSB Managing Director Qutubuddin Shaikh, the KWSB team along with police, local administration and Sindh Assembly members Rehan Zafar and Jamal Ahmed carried out a raid on a tip-off that certain people were involved in stealing water from the 48-inch water line in Godhra area. During the operation, two illegal hydrants belonging to Salim and Waheed were demolished, 10 illegal connections cut and the KWSB team confiscated the material. According to KWSB spokesman, “The hydrants caused shortage of water in the surrounding area and the action from KWSB would ensure smooth flow of water supply in the area.” He said that KWSB would continue its operation and the next action would be taken in Mochko Goth of Saeedabad on Thursday.
