Seven prisoners released from Malir jail

KARACHI: An NGO working for providing justice to the poor prisoners has helped seven prisoners in their release from District Jail Malir. Chairman Saiban, Haq Nawaz Akhtar paid the amount of fine, travelling expenses and got 07 prisoners released who had completed their sentence but were not released for payment of their fines, said a press releases here on Sunday. As per new judicial policy of the Supreme Court, District and Sessions Judge, Malir Muhammad Yameen along with judicial officers visited Malir District Jail on Saturday. The DJ surveyed various barracks where he met the prisoners and inquired about the details of their cases. A large number of prisoners submitted applications for early hearing of their cases while many others submitted applications for review of the courts’ decisions. Seven prisoners informed the DJ that they had completed their sentence but were in jail because they were unable to pay the fine. Haq Nawaz Akhtar paid their fine amount, on which the DJ ordered immediate release of the prisoners.
