Two traffic policemen shot dead

*Rangers to set up special task force against ransom, extortion cases *Karachi police to get 100 bulletproof cars

KARACHI: Two traffic policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were killed in a firing incident in the city. The victims were identified as ASI Abdul Karim and Head Constable Rashid Yousuf. The shooting took place in Orangi Town. Police said that investigation was under way.Moreover, DG Rangers Major General Rizwan Akhtar has formed a special task force that will look into the rising extortion and kidnapping cases in Karachi. Rangers’ spokesperson said that they are establishing a task force on the demand of traders and public which will work under DG Rangers while former officer of CPLC Najeeb Danawala will be the director of the task force. Fourteen members of CPLC will also be included in the task force.  Special task force will comprise on expert trained squad who will have modern equipment. Squad has the ability to surgically operate against extortionists and kidnappers; this force will be ready to tackle with several dangers 24 hours and will start working next week. On the other hand, Sindh government in order to make the Karachi targeted operation more effective has decided to provide armoured cars and one hundred bulletproof cars to Police next month.  According to details, sheet of 35 armour cars will be made thicker and cars will be brought from B 4 to B 6 protection technology.  These cars will also be provided to CID, SIU and AVCC for operation in sensitive areas.Modern police mobiles and armoured cars will be used in Orangi town, Manghopir, Gulshan Buner, Lyari and Ittehad Town.
