KARACHI: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have speeded up action against criminal in Karachi and killed five accused in four alleged encounters. Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Saturday arrested 150 suspects in different raids carried out in various parts of city and recovered weapons from them.
Rangers spokesman said targeted raids were conducted in Gulshan- e-Sikandar, Sheerin Jinnah Colony, Gulshan e Ghazi, Khadim Solangi Goth, Shah Faisal Colony, Liaquatabad Number 3, Mujahid Colony, Zikri Mohalla, Nishter Basti, Korangi, Golden Town and New Sabzi Mandi areas last night.
Targeted raids, he added, were also conducted on the hideouts of terrorists involved in recent suicide attacks on Rangers. During the action, two terrorists affiliated with a banned group were killed after exchange of fire. A search operation was also conducted in Al-Azam Plaza, Sohrab Goth on the information of arrested members of defunct organisations.
57 criminals, including Lyari gang-war elements, criminals affiliated with political groups and members of banned outfits involved in heinous crimes were arrested. About 92 weapons including SMGs, G-3 rifle, hand grenades and mixed ammo were recovered.
Meanwhile, police and Rangers conducted a joint operation against negative elements in Lyari, resulting in one gangster being killed during an exchange of fire between criminals and personnel early morning.
Separately, an alleged dacoit was killed in police encounter in Landhi Labour Square. Another dacoit was killed on Super Highway in Sohrab Goth.
According to SSP Marli, Rao Anwar the accused has been identified as Shah Kalam. His two accomplices managed to escape. Rao Anwar further said an accused identifies as Siddique commando, who was arrested in injured condition after encounter in Labour Square Landhi, succumbed to injuries. He was involved in murder and kidnapping for ransom.
