KARACHI: The worsening law and order situation in Lyari that has claimed many lives, recently did not even spare the ambulance drivers, and a Chhipa ambulance driver was killed on Saturday.
The ambulance driver Lal Muhammad was shot dead while he was transporting and injured in Chakiwara area of Lyari. Many people were injured hours prior to the ambulance drivers death in exchange of fire between two parties.
"It is not the first time that any of our driver has been killed, recently another driver Gul Wahab was also killed in Agra Taj Colony in Lyari," said an office bearer of Chhipa.
Peerabad policestation attack leaves2 cops injured
At least two policemen sustained injuries when unidentified motorcycle-mounted attackers hurled a hand grenade at the main gate of Peerabad Police Station located in Orangi Town here on Saturday.
According to officials, unknown miscreants riding on two motorbikes lobbed a hand grenade at the gate of the police station, and fled the scene after abandoning their vehicles and weapons.
"Police went after the attackers but they disappeared in the narrow streets of the residential area," officials said.
The stationhouse at which the attack was carried out has been attacked many times in the past too.
Wounded cops were shifted to nearby hospital where condition of one personnel has been reported as critical.
In recent days terrorists have increased their attacks on security forces including police and Rangers in the troubled city.
After the launch of crackdown, police and Rangers are now the target and are in the midst of targeted attacks, bomb blasts and other crimes.
Pakistan's largest city, the commercial capital and home to more than 18 million people has been plagued with political and ethnic violence that has claimed close to 3,000 lives during 2013.
