Qaim orders police to take action against miscreants

Sindh CM says PPP government committed to restoring peace in entire province; putting it on development track

KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah soon after his arrival from China to Karachi held a high-level meeting at CM House Karachi to review the law and order situation and get updated briefing from the officers about law and order their achievements for maintenance of peace in the metropolis. Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana, IGP Ghulam Hyder Jamali, he Additional IG Karachi Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo, Karachi Commissioner Sohaib Siddiqi and other officers attended the meeting. Sindh IGP Ghulam Hydrer Jamali while briefing to the Sindh Chief Minister informed that as many as 1802 encounters have been made during the targeted operation as compared to the 1138 before the operation in same period. Consequently 472 criminals have been killed as compared to 126 before the operation. He informed the meeting that out of 9382 arrested criminals, 7915 have been challaned, 2104 were on bails, 7128 were confined in prisons and 150 are in police custody. The IGP further informed to the Sindh chief minister that during last 24 hours 69 raids have been conducted that resulted 05 encounters, killing of 2 and arrest of 40 criminals, where as  total 472 criminals have been killed during the targeted operation as compared to 126 before the operation in same period. Giving further details, the Sindh IGP also informed that the decline of 945 murder has been achieved during the period of targeted operation, as 2882 murders cases had been reported before targeted operation, as compared to 1937 cases of murders during the operation period. Similarly as compared to 2180 targeted killing 884 have been reported during the period of targeted operation. He said that more than 60% decline in the crime rate in some heinous crime so far has been achieved. He informed the meeting that since last two to three months neither any case of kidnapping nor bank dacoit have been reported and even no incident of terrorism so far has been occurred during this period. He informed that menace of extortion has been totally eliminated from district west Karachi and added that all the criminals involved in this crime have been arrested and eliminated.Addressing the meeting, the Sindh chief minister expressed his satisfaction over the law & order situation and directed the officers to speed up their action against the terrorists, extortionist, and kidnappers. The Sindh chief minister said that PPP government has committed to restore the peace in the city and whole province in all sense and put the province on the development track. He directed the officers to follow their cases till the conviction to the criminals for which they have been facilitated. He said that the Police Officers would be encouraged for their best services and sacrifices.
