NEW DELHI: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) Officer Mohammad Tanzil, who was investigating Pathankot airbase attack, was shot dead by two unidentified attackers near his hometown- Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night. Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tanzil was returning from a function with his wife and a child when attackers opened fire at his car. The officer succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital while wife is undergoing medical treatment at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). “He was attending his niece’s marriage. He was with his wife and two children. Two bike-borne assailants shot fire at them. They were referred to the Cosmos hospital,” Station House Officer Rajkumar told ANI.
