LAHORE: Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday (today) will hear a petition seeking implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), especially a decision involving deployment of the Pakistan Rangers in Punjab for security reasons. The petitioner has asked the court to order implementation of the NAP in Punjab, as law enforcement agencies have failed to protect the lives of people in the province. The petition has been filed in the wake of the Lahore suicide bombing on Sunday. The petitioners said the Punjab government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz did not develop any mechanism to curb terrorism in the province. They said the federal and Punjab governments had failed to provide a secure environment to people. They said the PML-N was reluctant to implement the NAP in letter and spirit because it did not want to lose its vote bank in Punjab.
