LAHORE: An exhibition ‘My world in monochrome’, organised by the Photographic Art Society of Pakistan (PASP), featured the photographs of 57 participants at the Alhamra Art Gallery. The exhibition was organised in collaboration with the Lahore Arts Council. Monochrome photography is mainly done in only one colour or different shades of that colour in order to define the whole subject, usually black and white. Other colour shades captured in this specific genre of photography is grey. The PASP executive committee at the exhibition selected more than 100 photographs of 57 participants after thorough scrutiny. The executive committee included PASP President Samiur Rehman, Senior Vice President Abdul Sattar Khokhar and Honourary Secretary Syed Nayyer Reza. Tahsin Shah, on his photograph ‘Innocence lost’, in which a girl is shown working at the brick kiln, was awarded ‘Show’s Best Trophy’, while Aftab Ahmed was awarded pride of performance on his ‘Centurion’ along with Owais for his ‘Lengthy shadows’. Among other awards, Ghalib Hasnain’s ‘Class of Tharparkar’ won a gold medal for his depiction of students studying in a classroom of Tharparkar. ‘Dreams’ of Minhaj Wazi grabbed a silver medal, while Amir Majeed Sheikh’s ‘farmer at work’ won bronze medal. On the occasion, the participants expressed that PASP was a good platform for photographers to sharpen their hidden skills of photography. They said an opportunity to display photographs at such a public art gallery would allow the photographers to listen the critics of the common people. They said that variety of themes of the photographs from nature to animal photography, and from portrait to group photography gave them a chance to cover a wide range themes. The exhibition will continue until Dec 31.
