LAHORE: Sports grounds of Punjab seem to have been revived, as the sixth day of the Punjab Youth Festival turned out to be another spectacular day.
Keenness of the aspirants was so overwhelming, as 85,000 youths showed up to participate in various competitions of cricket, tug-of-war, athletics, billiard, badminton, volleyball, and arm wrestling. As many as 40,623 players were adjudged winners.
MPA Mohsin Latif inaugurated the sporting events in Gulberg Town Lahore and played friendly matches of cricket, arm wresting and tug-of-war.
Addressing the youth, he said, “We have engaged the youngsters in healthy activities and provided them a better platform in the shape of sports festival to show their capabilities and hidden talents.”
In Lahore, 1,844 players from 65 UCs of nine towns participated in 67 events.
Laila Khan, Ahmed Saeed Hassan and Mehar Imran graced the events as chief guests at Aziz Bhatti Town and Iqbal Town.
In Gujranwala division, there was an awesome response from the youth, especially in Hafizabad district, where almost 7,731 aspirants from 403 Ucs took part in 863 events. As many as 4,995 of them were declared winners.
