LAHORE: Syed Waseem Akhter, who is Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab chapter emir and also party’s parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly (PA), has sent a letter to PA Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, requesting him not to accept resignations tendered by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the provincial legislature.
The letter said that according to prevailing political situation, all of the assemblies should complete their terms and work in the sphere of law and of the constitution to save the country from serious crises.
“It is my personal request not to accept the resignation of PTI members,” Akhtar said, adding that the situation would further aggravate if resignations were accepted.
The letter said that demanding resignation from the prime minister through holding protests could be dangerous for the future of the country. “It seems that some undemocratic forces are working against democracy to derail it,” he added.
