Domestic violence: in-laws choke woman to death


LAHORE: A mother of three was strangulated allegedly by her in-laws over some domestic issue in the precincts of South Cantt police, while four other people, including a woman, were killed in various incident across the city on Wednesday.
In the first incident, the deceased was identified as Gul Nazia, 34, wife of Muhammad Ashraf, a resident of Gohawa South Cantt.
The investigation officer said that the victim hailed from Peshawar. On the day of the incident, police received information about the mysterious death of a woman, and reached the spot. He said that the family members initially informed the police that she committed suicide by taking poison, but doctors told the police that torture marks and bruises were found on her neck. 
Police said that victim’s husband was at his workplace when the incident occurred. Police said that Ashraf’s family members choked her to death over some domestic issue. The investigator said that police had contacted her parents over the phone, who would reach the city soon. 
He said that the actual cause of death would be ascertained after the post-mortem report and a comprehensive investigation. Police removed the body to the city mortuary for an autopsy and did not register a case until the filing of this report.
In another incident, a 58-year-old man was killed by his ex-employee over an old enmity in the Shahdara Town police area.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Rafique of Kala Khataie village. Police said that victim had terminated his employee named Nasir over corruption a few days ago. 
Police said that the accused had nursed a grudge against him over the issue. On the day of the incident, the victim was on his way when the accused, driving a tractor, ran him over and fled. 
The victim sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed. 
Police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim’s relative, Rustam Ali. The body was sent to the morgue.
Separately, a 50-year-old unidentified woman was crushed to death in the Gulberg police limits.
Police said that the victim seemed to be a beggar, who was crossing a road near FC College when the vehicle hit her. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died. The body was shifted to the city mortuary.
Also, two men were found dead in the Naulakha and Badami Bagh police areas. Police said that some locals informed the police about the bodies near Australia Chowk Naulakha and Data Nagra Bridge. Police said that the deceased seemed to be addicts and died of overdose, but the actual case of death would be ascertained after the post-mortem reports.
