Chinese envoy calls on Punjab chief minister


LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that in order to strengthen the deep-rooted and lasting friendship, the Chinese leadership has opened new avenues of economic prosperity for Pakistan. 
Talking to Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, he said that besides helping Pakistan overcome the energy crisis, the Chinese investment would result in creation of vast opportunities of economic development as well as business and job opportunities. 
He said that the people of Pakistan fully appreciated the spirit of sincere friendship and cooperation between the Chinese and Pakistani governments. 
The chief minister said that regular high-level meetings were ushering in a new era of Pak-China friendship and cooperation. 
He said that China had expressed deep interest in investment in Punjab, while the government was also extending maximum facilities to Chinese investors in the country. 
He said that in order to resolve the energy crisis, new projects were being launched with the financial and technical assistance of China, which would result in substantial increase in electricity production in Pakistan. 
Shahbaz said that there were attractive investment opportunities in Pakistan for Chinese companies, due to which several Chinese firms were coming to Pakistan. “In view of this trend, all-out efforts are being made for increasing the volume of trade between the two countries.”
Ambassador Weidong thanked the CM for the sentiments of goodwill on part of Pakistan and assured him of all-out cooperation on behalf of China for the implementation of projects, aimed at national development and prosperity.
