ORU holds musical night to mark GCU’s 150 years of excellence

LAHORE: The Old Ravians Union (ORU), in collaboration with Nazir Ahmed Music Society (NAMS) of the Government College University’s (GCU), organised a ghazal night on GCU campus to mark the institution’s 150 years of excellence.According to a press release, GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman was the chief guest at the ghazal night, which was attended by a large number of eminent Old Ravians from different walks of life. Former presidents and secretaries of the NAMS including Saleem Bazmi, Sajid Ali Fradi, Amjad Pervaiz, Abdul Rauf, Imran Jafferi, Zaheer Abbass, Arshad Khokhar, Faheem Azahr, Muhamamd Jawad, Saad Farooq, Mohsin Abbass and Imran Fida performed at the musical night which was a part of the ORU’s month-long celebrations to mark the institution’s 150 years of excellence.Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr Rahman said that the NAMS was the biggest teaching centre of music and art in Pakistan as it produced galaxy of stars like Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Zafar, Waris Baig and Jawad Ahmad. The Old Ravian singers shared light moments they had spent with NAMS head Tariq Farani. They also cherished the time they had spent in the society, especially late-night dinners. They said that GCU teachers had inculcated moral ethics, values and real sense of Ravians’ spirit in them.
