LAHORE: The central majlis-e-shura [consultative committee] of Pakistan Ulema Council [PUC] has stressed the need for dialogue and reconciliation to resolve the current political crisis in the country, and urged Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif and Tahir ul Qadri to settle the issue through talks. In a session that was held at PUC’s main office in Bait-ul-Aman Lahore under the headship of Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, the central majlis-e-shura evaluated the current situation of the country and decided that the PUC would wholeheartedly participate in the next election and cooperation would be extended to parties who agree with the PUC’s manifesto and code-of-conduct. The decision was also taken during the meeting to establish Wafaq al-Madaras Pakistan in order to bring mosques all over the country under a powerful and organized system. All mosques affiliated with the PUC will work under Wafaq al-Madaras Pakistan.
While addressing the meeting, PUC Central Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that nobody in the country would be allowed to resort to violence in the name of religion or politics. Pakistan has a constitution and law. All political and religious parties should put forward their demands while remaining within the jurisdiction of the constitution and law. The Pakistani nation will not allow any attempt to revoke or invalidate Pakistan’s law or constitution to succeed.
