LAHORE: The 970th three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Abul Hassan Ali Bin Usman Hajveri, famously known as Hazrat Data Ganj Bukhsh (RA) concluded on Tuesday with religious fervour and reverence.
Thousands of admirers and devotees from both countries (India and Pakistan) came to attend the Urs celebrations of Data Sahib in form of groups, families and laid floral wreath on the graveyard. On the occasion, prayers were offered for the prosperity and well-being of Muslim Ummah around the world as well for peace in Pakistan.
During the Urs, different foods items were distributed among the visitors hailing from far flung areas by the administration of Data Sahib along with his devotees. According to the Auqaf sources, a large number of mashaikh, religious scholars, renowned qawwals and naat khawans participated to perform spiritual Mahafils during the Urs like Qawalis and Naats.
To counter any possible mishap during the Urs, strict security measures were also taken by the police along with other spy agencies to alert the forces ahead of any suspicious activity.
Data Ganj Bakhsh or Data Sahib was a great Persian sufi scholar, writer and poet living during the 5th Century AH (11th Century AD). He had everlasting contributions in spreading Islam in South Asia. He is remembered every year by his devotees for his spiritual and scholarly works for the Muslim Ummah.
