LAHORE: A couple and their two children died due to suffocation caused by gas leakage in their house in Mughalpura police area on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Haider Ali , his wife Yasmeen Bibi and their sons Anas  and Hassan Hiader.
Police said that Haider had moved to the city from Karachi two months ago. The victims were sleeping in their house in Sahowari main bazaar when they died due to suffocation. 
Separately, a man was gunned down by unidentified persons in Kahna police area. The deceased, identified as Rashid Mehmood, was a resident Old Khana Mehr Chowk. Mehmood’s wife told police that he received a phone call and went out of the house where two men, riding a motorbike, shot him dead and fled.
Also on Wednesday, a 40-year-old man was electrocuted in Iqbal Town police area. The deceased, identified as Muhammad Ikram was a resident of Pattoki. 
Police said the victim was fixing some electricity problem in the house of Ashraf in Iqbal Town when he accidentally touched a live wire and received a severe shock. He was taken to hospital where he died. His body was sent to a morgue.
Two bodies, whose identity could not be ascertained, were also found from Qilla Gujjar Singh and Mustafabad police limits. Police said the deceased were apparently drug addicts and died of overdose. Police moved the bodies to the city mortuary after fulfilling legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a judicial magistrate extended physical remand of Professor Salman who had allegedly raped and tortured a 15-year-old maid to death.
Defence police produced the accused before the Cantt area judicial magistrate and prayed to extend his physical remand. The professor was arrested on Saturday for allegedly torturing the maid to death. 
The accused had been sent on a three-day physical remand by the judicial magistrate.
