LAHORE: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday inaugurated the 970th three-day urs of Hazrat Ali bin Usman Al-Hajveri known as Data Ganj Bakhsh while laying a traditional Chadar on the shrine of the great saint.
Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Mian Ata Muhammad Manika, MPA Mohsin Latif, cricketer Javed Miandad, Secretary Auqaf Dr Saqib Aziz, other senior officials and a large number of devotees were also present.
The federal minister offered Fateha for the progress, stability and development of the country besides elimination of terrorism from society. Later, he also inaugurated a “Milk Sabeel” and Langar (free meal).
Auqaf sources said that about 500 Mashikh, religious scholars and Naat Khawans had been invited for spiritual Mahafils during the urs. Over 200 spiritual leaders from Pakistan and India will participate in the urs. The Auqaf Department has allocated Rs 8 million for the urs. Regarding security arrangements, sources said 100 close circuit cameras had been installed and 1,700 policemen deputed to ensure security. About 12 walk-through gates and metal detectors had been provided to check visitors. The bomb disposal squad will remain alert during the urs. Renowned Qawwals and Naat Khawans will perform.
