The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart arrived in Lahore on Sunday morning and answered different queries to the media persons about the current political situation of the country. Answering queries, he said that parliament’s minor mistakes should be overlooked, as Pakistan could not tolerate further dictatorship. He asserted that judiciary would not give any support to the military rule this time if army tried to come into power.
When the opposition leader in National Assembly was asked about his and his party’s association with either the government or the army, he just answered he is with Pakistan and his party is a “protector of Pakistan”. Showing serious reservations over the Protection of Pakistan Bill, the opposition leader urged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to amend all the clauses included in the bill that challenge the democratic forces, and consult all opposition parties on the legislation.
Terming the bill as harmful for the country as well the government, Khursheed Shah said that he had told Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that it would create hurdles for him. And, he further stated that his party’s Co-Chairman, Asif Ali Zardari had also told Nawaz Sharif about his reservations on the bill and its harmfulness.
