LAHORE: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Captain (r) Muhammad Usman has approved the City District Government Lahore’s (CDGL) budget for the fiscal year 2014-15 with no new taxes.
According to documents, the CDGL expects to receive an amount of Rs 17.8 billion from the Punjab government under the Provincial Finance Commission share. The CDGL has allocated Rs 9.1 billion for the education sector and Rs 1.6 billion for the health sector with 10 percent increase in the budget for purchasing medicines. It will spend Rs 4.3 billion on development sector out of which Rs 2 billion will be spent on ongoing schemes.
The CDGL also gave 10 percent annual increase in the salaries of employees following the announcement of the Punjab government. The CDGL will face a deficit of Rs 300 million under the head of commercialisation fee, as this sector has been transferred to the Lahore Development Authority.
