Clinic to cure children with clubfoot established at LGH


LAHORE: For the treatment and rehabilitation of children having deformed feet (congenital clubfoot) by birth, a Ponseti clinic has been established at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) where Prof Dr Irfan Mahboob will cure such kids. According to a handout on Saturday, Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Anjum Habib Vohra said that the Ponseti clinic would prove to be very helpful in rehabilitating children with such deformities. He said that children of parents with inadequate financial resources would be provided free of cost treatment in accordance with the policy of the Punjab government. Stressing vaccination for preventable diseases like polio, he urged parents to contact qualified doctors at government hospitals instead of approaching quacks to save their children from health complications. Prof Mahboob said that kids with deformed feet and other problems of this sort would be treated on every Saturday at the LGH. He said that there was no such facility in any government hospital before the establishment of this clinic. He said that all of recourses would be utilised for the care of such children and an awareness workshop for the general public would be conducted in June where renowned experts on the subject would deliver lectures.
