42nd LHC chief justice takes oath today

LAHORE: Justice Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmad will take oath as chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) today (Tuesday) at a ceremony at the Governor’s House. Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will administer the oath. Justice Khawaja Imtiaz will be the 42nd chief justice of the LHC. He was born on March 30, 1953, in Pind Dadan Khan in Jhelum District. He passed his matriculation examination from Government High School, Pind Dadan Khan and did his graduation from Gordon College, Rawalpindi. After LLB from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, he was enrolled as an advocate in 1980 and started practice. He was appointed an additional district and sessions judge in 1992, promoted as district and sessions judge in 2000 and served as such till his elevation as additional judge of the LHC on September 15, 2009. He took oath as a permanent judge on September 5, 2011.
