IGP says stricter security measures to be adopted soon

LAHORE: After attack on Karachi Airport, security of all airports, sensitive installations, important government buildings, business centres, important political and religious personalities along with media persons is being revisited and new and stricter measures will immediately be implemented across the province soon after finalisation.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig said this while addressing a rewards ceremony at the Central Police Office on Thursday. Head-money announced for the arrest of hardened criminals was distributed among police officer who had arrested them. 
Additional IGPs Sarmad Saeed Khan and Khaliq Dad Lak, SSP Waqas Hassan and other officers were present.
The IGP distributed Rs 3 million among 45 cops from Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Kasur Districts. Four officers were given commendatory certificates whereas three informers were given cash prizes. The IGP said that he salutes those efficient officers, who had helped arrest crime graph and unrest among the people.
IGP Baig further said that major portion of the 2014-15 budget would be spent on operational activities in order to enhance the capacity of the police by providing them sophisticated vehicles, modern technology and weapons besides modernised training.
