LAHORE: Government College of Home Economics, Gulberg, held its annual funfair on Saturday. Beham Mashood, the wife of Education Minister Rana Mashood, inaugurated the event, whereas college Principal Samia Kalsoom and a large number of students visited the funfair.
The students of various departments of the college had set up as many as 38 stalls of flowers, bed sheets, towels, furniture, handmade accessories, paintings and photography, poetry books, jewellery, games and artwork, weather articles, pottery, shoes and food items, which were decorated with colourful banners and balloons.
The Art Department displayed clutches, cushions, handbags, painted pottery, wall pictures and T-shirts designed by students. Students of the Home Management Department displayed bed covers made by them. The HDFS Department presented hand-painted scarves, flower arrangement and handicrafts.
Principal Samia Kalsoom said that events like funfairs provide a refreshing break from the tedious studies and monotonous day-to-day routines.
She said that the contrast between the chilling winter and the warm pulsating air of excitement was a sensual delight not only for students but for teachers also. “Therefore, the college is encouraging students to bring forth their hidden talents in order to face the challenges of society,” she added.
