LAHORE: MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that a vigorous fundraising campaign has been started for assistance of internally displaced persons (IDPs). He said that people belonging to all segments of society, including traders, industrialists, farmers, religious figures, teachers, students, government employees and overseas Pakistanis have joined this campaign. He said that fundraising committees headed by ministers and assembly members have been formed. He said that the entire nation was standing by the IDPs in this hour of trial.
According to a handout, Hamza expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Chief Minister’s Committee for IDPs at his Model Town office on Monday.
Committee Members and Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique, MNA Pervaiz Malik, Khawaja Ahmed Hassan and Information Secretary Momin Ali Agha attended the meeting.
Hamza informed the participants that unprecedented sacrifices of IDPs would not only guarantee the protection of geographical and ideological frontiers of the country but after the success of Operation Zarb-i-Azb, every citizen of the country would get fruits of the sacrifices of IDPs in the shape of peace and development.
He said that all segments of society were being mobilised for fundraising campaign, particularly male and female students of universities and colleges would play a vanguard role in this campaign.
Hamza said that 4.8 million registered male and female students of the Punjab Youth Festival have been made volunteers for fundraising campaign. He said that this youth force would help overcome this crisis.
Hamza said that short and medium-term planning was being made for accelerating the process of help and rehabilitation of IDPs. He said that duties had been assigned to various ministers, assembly members, representatives of traders, religious figures and social leaders and a vigorous fundraising campaign had been started. He said that contacts from common man to philanthropists were being made under this campaign. Hamza said that this national mission of survival of the country would be changed like a national campaign with the complete assistance of media, which would be helpful for rooting out the menace of terrorism.
Hamza urged participants to contact every person for maximum fundraising. He said that fundraising camps should be set up at district, tehsil, village, town and market level so that maximum amount of money or donations could be collected and the miseries of the IDPs could be minimised by providing them relief at the earliest because they have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow and for the success of decisive operation of army against terrorists.
