LAHORE: Chinese students from China University of Geosciences, Wuhana (CUG) will study Pakistan Studies and other subjects at the Summer School at the Government College University’s Centre for Excellence Chinese Studies (GCU CECS) every year. This has been agreed under an accord between the two universities for the faculty and student exchange programme, which was signed at a ceremony at the GCU Syndicate Committee Room on Monday. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and CUG Institute of Environment and Conversation Law Director Prof Dr Huang Delin on behalf of his university’s President, Prof Wang Yanxin, signed the six-point Memorandum of Understanding under which 20 Chinese students from CUG would attend Summer School at GCU CECS where they would study Pakistan Studies, English, Pak-China Friendship etc. As many as six students from GCU would also study Chinese language, culture and economic system for one month at CUG every year free-of-cost, while the Chinese university would also support two GCU students to get admissions in its MS/MPhil programmes under a programme of China Scholarship Council. Addressing the accord signing ceremony, CECS Director Dr Khalid Maznoor Butt said CUG was top national university of China in geosciences, and it would be great opportunity for GCU students to study for one month at CUG where they would be provided free accommodation, food and local transport.
