LHC takes up petition against ‘million march’

LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Khalik Mehmood Khan of Lahore High Court has sought assistance of attorney general and advocate general Punjab to decide maintainability of a petition seeking issuance of an order to restrain Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from taking out its “Azadi March”.
During the preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Khan inquired from the petitioner’s counsel whether the court could pass such an order to the government. He stated that the court would decide maintainability of the petition before further proceedings on the matter. The further hearing would be held today (Thursday). A local, Kamran, filed the petition. His counsel, Asad Manzoor Butt submitted that the PTI had decided to take out the Azadi March on August 14 against alleged rigging in general election.
