LAHORE: In yet another case of ruthless and unprovoked attack, a woman drowned her two minors – two-year-old daughter and an eight-month-old son – in the Johar Town police precinct on Wednesday.
Police said that the accused, Bisma, 27, had been arrested and a murder case registered against her for wilfully killing her children – Minahil and Yousaf.
Sharing information about he incident, police said that Bisma drowned her two minor children in a bathtub at her house over some issue. Some reports also suggested that the victims were “strangulated”.
Upon being informed about the incident, other family members took both the minors to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared that they had already died.
The investigation officer said that the police reached the spot and arrested the couple. He said that during initial interrogation, Bisma claimed that she had killed her children out of sheer frustration, as her husband, Sunny Khan, was jobless and they used to quarrel over financial issues now and then.
The parents of the accused woman also blamed their son-in-law and his parents for the incident, saying that Sunny had introduced himself as a businessman before the marriage, but all of it proved false. They said that Sunny was a jobless person, who used to torture their daughter.
They added that the incident occurred due to poverty as well as the bad behaviour of Sunny with Bisma.
However, police said that there were some conflicting statements by the accused, and that things was not adding up, as the couple had been living in their own house in the E1 Block of Johar Town, and that the market value of the house was around Rs 10 million.
They said that the family had a good business, but had been affected by some financial problems during the last few days.
Police said they had started investigation on different angels and the actual reasons behind this heart-breaking incident would be ascertained after the post-mortem reports and a comprehensive investigation procedure.
