‘China wants to see strong, economically stable Pakistan’

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Chinese leadership has opened up new avenues of socio-economic prosperity to strengthen old ties of everlasting friendship with Pakistan. He said that a new era of economic relations and friendship between Pakistan and China was going to usher in with historic investment package of $32 billion. 
The chief minister said that besides overcoming energy crisis, the Chinese investment would pave the way for economic development and new job opportunities would be created in large numbers. 
He said that Pakistani people acknowledge this spirit of cooperation and sincere friendship of China. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government would spare no effort to bring about development revolution in Pakistan by following the unprecedented development of China.
He expressed these views while talking to Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, who called on him on Saturday, says a handout. 
The chief minister said that various mega projects with the cooperation of China have been completed successfully under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Similarly, he said, new projects would be executed under fresh investment package. 
He said that China had expressed deep interest in carrying out investment in Punjab. The government was also providing all possible facilities to the Chinese investors in Pakistan, he added. 
The chief minister said that lucrative opportunities of investment for Chinese companies exist in Pakistan and that a large number of Chinese companies were already showing  a lot of interest in carrying out investment. 
Shahbaz said that the people of both countries were imbued with the spirit of love and mutual affection and that Pakistan is proud of its friendship with China. 
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz was making efforts for bringing about development in every sector and in this connection, investment by Chinese companies was encouraging. 
He said that there was a great scope of vast cooperation between Pakistan and China in energy, transport and other sectors. He said that projects under the proposed economic corridor would be completed swiftly.
Ambassador Weidong thanked the chief minister for expressing friendly sentiments and assured him all possible cooperation on behalf of China for the development and prosperity of Pakistan. 
He said that Pakistan-China economic cooperation was increasing and that China wants to see a strong and economically stable Pakistan. He said that Shahbaz was an active chief minister working round the clock for the welfare of his people.
