LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the visit to Britain under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been very successful and British leadership has assured all-out measures for further promotion of cooperation with Pakistan in energy, education, skill development and health sectors.
He said that the historical friendship and economic relations between Britain and Pakistan will strengthen as a result of the visit. He said that Britain is a big trading partner of Pakistan and is extending commendable cooperation in education, health, skill development and other sectors of social development. He said that extremely fruitful negotiations have been held with British Prime Minister David Cameron, ministers and other authorities during the visit to Britain and as a result of this the volume of trade between the two countries will increase.
He was talking to Pakistan Muslim League-N London President Ch Zaheer Gondal, during the visit to Britain, who called on him. The chief minister said that the PML-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is striving to resolve the problems being faced by the country and its sincere and determined efforts are bound to succeed.
He said that Pakistan has become the best country for foreign investment during only one year’s tenure of PML-N.
He said that prospects of investment in Pakistan have also been discussed with the British investors during the visit and they have been encouraged to make investment in Pakistan.
He said that talks have been held with the British authorities for promotion of bilateral cooperation in education, energy and health sectors. He said that foreign investors are being offered maximum facilities for investment in energy and other sectors in Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif said that solution of country’s problems and strengthening of national economy is the top priority of the present leadership and its solid economic policies are yielding positive results.
Referring to the relations between Pakistan and Britain, the Chief Minister said that several British companies are working in Pakistan. He said that Skill Development Programme being implemented with the collaboration of British Department for International Development (DFID) is yielding positive results and thousands of youth have been imparted skills under this programme. He said that the scope of Skill Development Programme is being extended to the whole province.
He said that DFID which has also extended cooperation in Punjab Educational Endowment Fund is now going to launch a big programme of mother and child care in Pakistan. He said that PML-N government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sahrif is speedily working on different fronts and due to its effective measures, economic situation is fast improving.
The Chief Minister said that he is fully aware of the problems of overseas Pakistanis as he has himself been in exile. He said that the overseas commission to be set up in Punjab will work as a fully empowered institution for the solution of the problems of overseas Pakistanis.
President Pakistan Muslim League-N London Ch. Zaheer Gondal while talking on the occasion expressed the hope that due to the efforts of PML-N leadership, the problems of the people of Pakistan will soon be resolved and the country will make rapid progress. He said that setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission in Punjab is a commendable step in the right direction and will provide relief to overseas Pakistanis. He said that Shahbaz Sharif has taken revolutionary measures for the progress of the province and has executed unprecedented development projects in Punjab.
