LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan and the young generation is the hope of a bright future for the country. 
He said that youth can change the destiny of the nation through hard work, honesty and continuous efforts. He said that students should pay attention to their studies and propagate the message of unity, discipline and hope. He said that the Punjab government has also included talented boy and girl students of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and other provinces in its programmes aimed at promotion of education which is promoting national unity. The chief minister announced laptops for the position holder students of other provinces who are currently on a visit to Lahore. 
He was talking to position holders of Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir during a meeting, here today. Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Information and Director General Public Relations were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister welcomed position holder students of Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir in Lahore. He said that young generation is the guarantee to a glorious future of the country. 
He said that the youth should use their education and knowledge for promoting harmony and sentiments of tolerance between the people of different provinces. He said that the situation in the country can be improved by following the principles of honesty, hard work, merit and transparency. He said that Pakistan is facing a number of challenges and it is in the grip of terrorism and extremism. He said that there is a need to make collective efforts to steer the country out of the quagmire of problems and issues. He said that all citizens of the society will have to play their due role for transforming Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state. He said that dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal can be realized by implementing the resolution of March 23rd 1940. 
Referring to the measures taken in the province for promotion of education, Shahbaz Sharif said that Daanish schools have been set up for providing quality education to the children of poor families. He said by setting up these Daanish schools a feeling has been promoted in the resource less people that they also have right over national resources. He said that setting up of modern computer labs in high schools, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, study tours of position holder students to foreign countries and encouragement of teachers is a part of educational reforms programme. 
He said that the visit of boy and girl students of different provinces to Lahore will play an important role in promoting national unity and solidarity. He said it is unfortunate that elite played a major role in creating problems for the nation during the last 68 years. 
He said that Pakistan was created for the purpose of establishment of an Islamic welfare state and not for setting up a society where injustice and lawlessness was rampant. He said forefathers of the country rendered innumerable sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan but it is lamentable that the nation is lagging far behind in the world community due to mistakes and shortcomings. He said it is unfortunate that there is no supremacy of law and justice in the society despite the fact that the country was created so that all the citizens would share each other’s joys and sorrows and equal opportunities of progress would be available to all its members. 
He said that though Pakistan became a nuclear power and made progress in a number of fields during the last 68 years but still the nation is far behind others. He said that the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal will have to be followed for achieving respect and dignity. He said that terrorism and corruption will have to be rooted out and supremacy of transparency, hard work and merit will have to be ensured. He said that there is still time to choose the right direction and adopt the principles of honesty, commitment and hard work for changing the course of history. 
He said that though it is a difficult task but not impossible as there are examples of China, Germany and Japan which made remarkable progress on the basis of their dedication and tireless efforts and reshaped history with their courage and determination. 
The Chief Minister said that the announcement of investment package of 32 billion dollars by China is a big gift and it is high time to fully benefit from this opportunity and come up to the expectations of the masses. AHe said that all provinces have an equal right over national resources and Punjab government will continue to follow the programme of encouragement of students in order to promote interprovincial harmony.
