LAHORE: Kashmir Day will be observed in the city today (Wednesday) to show solidarity with the people of occupied valley.
Political and religious parties, student organisations and social bodies would arrange protest rallies, seminars and conferences to mark the day.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore chapter will hold a seminar at Lahore Press Club at 11:30am today to extend its support to the people of Kashmir.
The Youth Forum for Kashmir would also organise a seminar at the same venue at 4pm, to be addressed by former Senate chairman Muhammad Mian Soomro.
Similarly, the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will hold a seminar at Hamdard Centre under the leadership of PTI Punjab President Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry. Former foreign minister and head of PTI Kashmir Committee Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri would attend the event as chief guest.
The Insaf Youth Wing (IYW) Lahore would hold a vigil at Liberty Roundabout at 6pm to show solidarity with the Kashmiris.
The Tanzeem Khidmat-e-Khalq has set up a camp outside Punjab Assembly where national anthem and national songs are attracting citizens. Organisers of the camp are urging the public to attend rallies in support of the people of Indian-held Kashmir.
The Jamaatud Dawa has also announced a rally from Chauburji to Masjid-e-Shuhda on The Mall today. Hafiz Muhammad Saeed would lead the rally while leaders of other religious and political parties would also participate.
Participants of the rally would also make a human chain and observe one-minute silence to express sympathy with the oppressed Kashmiris.
Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference would address the rally on the phone.
