LHC issues notices on treason petition against Imran

LAHORE: Justice Aalia Neelum of the Lahore High Court on Monday issued notices to Punjab Police inspector general on a petition seeking a treason case against PTI leaders Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Neelum sought a reply from the IG within four weeks. A resident has moved the petition. The petitioner’s counsel alleged that Imran Khan and Qureshi have made statements against the judiciary and are creating a situation of anarchy in the country. He said both the politicians had also rejected the constitution of judicial tribunal for inquiry on Minhajul Quran, Model Town incident. He said these steps call for treason charges against them. He submitted that the petitioner had moved an application for registration of a case against both the PTI leaders before the lower court but it had dismissed it.
