LAHORE: Constant and heavy rain across the city turned the weather pleasant on Thursday, but filled the roads with water.
According to reports, many areas across the provincial capital faced power failures and severe traffic jams. Rains in Punjab have decreased suffocation and lowered the temperature while water was pooled in many areas of the city, including Nisbat Road, Bhaati Chowk, Lakshmi Chowk, Davis Road and Kashmir Road, causing severe problems to commuters.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of accumulation of water in low-lying areas due to heavy rain that lashed the provincial capital on Thursday.
According to a handout, the chief minister directed elected representatives to review the situation in their respective constituencies. He also directed authorities concerned to take immediate steps for drainage of rainwater.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz has expressed deep sorrow and grief over drowning of three persons in a water channel in Kuriyanwala.
According to another handout, the chief minister also took notice of demolition of the bridge of water channel between Kuriyanwala and Tanda and sought a report. He directed the irrigation authorities to immediately start relief activities in the affected villages.
