LAHORE: Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has allocated an initial secret amount of Rs 1 billion to block the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ‘Azadi March’ on August 14.
Talking to reporters and party supporters at the public secretariat here on Sunday the PTI backed opposition leader said that this was decided at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at Murree.
He said that a few master bureaucrats and artistes ministers had demanded money from the PML-N to help them block the ‘Azadi March’ and the Finance Minister has been tasked to arrange for these funds on an emergency basis. Mian Mahmoodur Rashid said that those contractors who have benefited from the present regime, traders and industrialists have been asked to contribute to the fund and this operation has already been started. He advised the traders and industrialists of Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and from all over Punjab to beware of these looters as their exit is now a writing on the wall.
He said that the PTI does not want that these looters might clean their hands on their hard earned money just before their exit. The Opposition Leader said that it is time that the traders and industrialists realize that they were the ones who have suffered the most during Nawaz era. He said that the traders and industrialists have always supported the ruling elite class and this time they should support the ‘street class’ for the sake of democracy, economic prosperity and development of the country.
Answering a question Mian Mahmood said that the Rana Mashood’s statement of bye-elections will never arise if the PTI MNAs resign as we have seen in the past the public never came out or responded to calls by the PML-N who their government was removed on October 12, 1999. He said again this time no one will come out to save this corrupt government as the public is sick and tired of these rulers and will not fall for any new ploy of the PML-N. Mian Mahmood invited all the PML-N workers to join hands with the PTI ‘Azadi March’ as Imran Khan is the person who can and will bring real democracy in the country. He said the PML-N workers have wrongly been supporting Nawaz Sharif and it is time to make amends and support Imran Khan for a real cause and that is true democracy for Pakistan.
