Mashhood accuses Imran of ‘sabotaging’ Zarb-e-Azb

LAHORE: Law Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that 2014 is the year of completion of promises made by the PML-N during electioneering ahead of May 2013 general elections and that restoration of the lost image of the country, strengthening of economy and elimination of unemployment and price-hike are real challenges being faced by the country.
He said that the entire world was expressing confidence in the PML-N government for trying to overcome these challenges but that some “mischievous” elements were creating hindrance in the process of development started by the PML-N.
According to a handout, the minister expressed these views while addressing party workers of Punjab Assembly’s PP-149 constituency in Lahore on Saturday.
Rana Mashhood said that the entire nation wanted complete elimination of terrorists and that it was ready to help 1 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan to get this mission accomplished but that Imran Khan, on the behest of foreign forces, was “sabotaging” Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said that Pakistan was achieved as a result of numerous sacrifices rendered by our forefather and that on the occasion of Independence Day, we have to convey a message to the world that we were a united nation but that Imran Khan was conveying a message to the world that the Pakistani nation was a divided one.
Mashhood said that Imran Khan favoured holding talks with those Taliban terrorists, who martyred thousands of innocent Pakistanis and released footage of their barbarian acts, and asked Imran Khan as to whether he represents Pakistan or terrorists. He said that the people of FATA wanted peace and development and that they did not support terrorists.
Rana Mashhood said that Imran Khan and his colleagues could not topple the federal and the Punjab governments but that if the PML-N decided, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government could be dislodged within 24 hours.
He said that the PML-N provided an opportunity to the PTI to form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province so that comparison could be made on the basis of performance after five years but that Imran Khan never displayed sportsmanship.
He said that Imran Khan did not have this quality in the field of sports and that he needed this training in politics too.
He warned that if Imran Khan did not refrain from taking along 1 million people to Islamabad on August 14, the PML-N would go to Peshawar with 2 million people on August 18 and rid the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of the PTI government.
He said that it was understandable if any Anti-Pakistan or any Hindu element tried making August 14 controversial but that the people would not allow Imran Khan to destroy peace in the country. He announced that residents of PP-149 would gather in a large number in Football Ground of Gulshan-e-Ravi at 6pm on August 9 to celebrate the Independence Day and prove that the entire nation was united under the green flag of Pakistan and rejects the “fasaadi march” of Imran Khan.
On this occasion, social workers Shahid Chaudhry and Muhammad Yaqoob Bhatti presented cheques for Rs 50,000 and Rs 200,000, respectively, to the minister for the IDPs.
Later, talking to the press while commenting on announcement by the Chaudhry brothers of giving a good news, Rana Mashhood said that leaders of ‘tonga’ parties no longer have any role in country’s politics.
In an apparent reference to the efforts of the Chaudhry brothers to make an alliance with Dr Tahirul Qadri, he said that the Chaudhry brothers visited the residence of “Container Baba” repeatedly because they want to come into power through the support of others. These defeated elements would never succeed in their conspiracies, he added.
Rana Mashhood said that the people of Pakistan wanted to continue the present journey of progress and prosperity and that they would not allow anyone to harm democracy too.
