LAHORE: The South Cantonment police arrested four persons, who had murdered a former official of a sensitive agency and buried him in a house in Jasokay Seller near Hujra Shah Muqeem.
The police said that Zafar Islam, of Bharpoor village near Kalar Kahar, was living near Bhatta Chowk. Zafar developed relations with a woman named Ramzana, who lured him into marrying her daughter. Ramzana and her paramour Ashraf, a rickshaw driver of Jhang, got gold ornaments and cash from Zafar on the pretext of his marriage.
Meanwhile, Zafar began pressurising Ramzana into fixing a date for the marriage upon which Ramzana and Ashraf decided to kill him. They took Zafar to the house of Allah Ditta, a paternal uncle of Ramzana, in Jasokay Seller near Hujra Shah Mukeem, almost two months ago. The three murdered Zafar and buried him there.
The victim’s mother contacted the police, which solved the murder mystery. The police also recovered the body from Allah Ditta’s house.
Meanwhile, a man bludgeoned his 30-year-old wife to death in Sundar police precincts.
Javed, of Ali Hussainabad, Loharanwala Khoo, used to pressurise his wife Bushra, who worked in a local factory, into quitting her job. Javed attacked her with bricks when she was asleep, killing her on the spot. Later, the accused surrendered before the police and admitted to committing the crime. The police sent the body for autopsy and booked Javed on the complaint of the Bushra’s brother Munir.
Roof-collapse: Two young sisters were buried alive when roof of their dilapidated government quarter collapsed in the Singhpura area in Gujaprpura police precincts.
Ashraf Masih’s daughters – 16-year-old Muskan and 10-year-old Iqra – were asleep when the roof caved in. Upon being informed, rescuers rushed to the scene, pulled the siblings out of the debris and rushed them to a hospital but to no avail.
Killed: An unidentified man was killed after being run over by a train near Chohti Pully Phattak in Sheranwala Gate police precincts. The man was crossing the track when he was run over and killed by the train.
Body: The Rescue 1122 divers on Tuesday fished out the body of a young man who was murdered by the family of his beloved in the name of honour in Sherakot four days back and was thrown out along with the girl in the Ravi River.
Anam’s family murdered her along with her lover Kazam Abbas, of Jattanwala Dera Talaat Park, on June 28. The killers had tied up hands and feet of the victims before throwing them into the river and the police had described the incident as a “heartbreaking end to a romance” that was apparently against the wishes of the girl’s parents.
The police said that the girl’s family had learned of their relationship and they took the matter into their own hands and murdered them to preserve their honour. Anam’s body was fished out a few hours after she was thrown in the river while Kazam’s body was missing since then.
Arrested: The Kahna police arrested three robbery suspects and recovered three snatched bikes and weapons from their possession. The suspects identified as Sajid, Sabar and Dilshad admitted to committing six such crimes in various parts of the city.
Similarly, the Raiwind City police arrested two theft suspects and recovered a bike and weapons from their possession. The suspects were identified as Zubair and Javed.
