Punjab-wide I-Day celebrations start

* Govt prepares list of PTI activists for arrests, detentions on ‘Azadi March’

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has officially inaugurated the 30-day Independence Day celebration across the country, including Punjab.
Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique laid a floral wreath at the tomb of great philosopher and Poet of the East Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal on Friday. Allama Iqbal was gave an idea of separate land for Muslims of the sub-continent where they can offer religious spirituals with feel free. On daily basis ceremonies will be held in different government sectors which will continue during the entire month of August. 
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had formed a committee led by Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Inter Provincial Coordination Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan and Special Assistant to the PM Irfan Siddiqui as its members for finalizing the Independence Day celebrations.
Khatib of Badshahi Mosque Maulana Khabir Azad was offered Fateha on this occasion while MNA Pervaiz Malik, MNA Shaista Pervaiz, Chief Minister’s Adviser on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Ahmed Ehsan, and MPA Mian Numan were present. On the inauguration ceremony children were sang Mili Nagmas and national anthem. They were getup traditional dresses of all over the provinces like Sindhi, Punjab, Balochi, Pashto and Kashmiri. However on this occasion rain disturbed the ceremony for short time but moral of people did not down and visitors were also enjoyed the weather.
A large number of students, retired army officers, social workers, Political workers and different walk of life people were also present who raised slogans in the favour of Pakistan Army and sovereignty of the country. Meanwhile, the Punjab government, under a plan, has worked out lists of workers, leaders and office bearers of Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) with reference to its prospective Azadi March. These leaders and activists of PTI which have been divided into two lists can be arrested and detained. Well-placed sources of Punjab government have said these lists have been evolved under a well thought out strategy. However no decision has been taken so far for arresting or detaining any worker. It has been resolved at government level that government writ and rule of law will not be compromised at any cost. The law will take its course against those found involved in violence and arson related incidents. 
On the other side PTI has taken notice of the media reports with respect to detention and arrests of its activists. PTI provincial president Ejaz Chaudhry has said arrests and detentions can not stop popular gathering storm to rage. This is a settled matter that we will not offer arrests and we will reach Islamabad at every cost, he declared. The atmosphere is ripe for Azadi March and we have nothing to do with either government accords permission or otherwise , we will reach Islamabad. August, 14 will be defining time in the history of the country and every venue will lead to Islamabad on that day, he held.
