LAHORE: A mother of two was slaughtered by her brother in the name of honour in Kot Lakhpat Police Station area on Friday.
The deceased hailed from Renala Khurd, Okara, and lived along with her husband in Baba Farid Colony, Kot Lakhpat. Police said that the accused, identified as Saleem, nursed a grudge against his sister, the victim, who eloped with her cousin Abbas almost seven years back and contracted marriage with him. The couple was living in a rented house in Baba Farid Colony. On the day of the incident, the accused visited the house of his sister and slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon. Police investigator said that due to initially investigation the accused Saleem had murdered his sister in the name of honour. Police did not register the case till the filing of this report and shifted the body to morgue for autopsy.
In another incident, Harbanspura police recovered the body of a 16-year-old boy who was kidnapped on Chand Raat.
The victim was identified as Usman, son of Babar of Canal Point Society Harbanspura. The victim Usman left his house on Chand Raat for shopping and did not turn up. On Friday, the police recovered his body from Lahore Canal. Police suspected that the boy had been murdered. Later, the agitators blocked the traffic by putting the youth’s body on the Canal Road and chanted slogans against the police. The protest led to massive traffic jams.
The blockade continued for more than one and a half hours. The commuters had been stuck in long queues for more than two hours. The blockade was lifted after the police assured the agitators of action against the culprits involved in the crime. Police had registered a case on the charges of kidnapping section which converted into murder section.
A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death by a local over minor issue in Green Town police limits. The deceased identified as Farman hailed from Kasur and served as a driver in the house of one Dr Safia. On the day of the incident, the victim Farman was parking the car near Pulli Stop when the accused Nomi Shah argued him into parking issue and later attacked with knife and wounded him.
The accused escaped from the scene. The injured Farman was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the murderer. A man died following an accident between two cars in Johar Town police limits.
Police said that two cars had collided with each other near Mahmood Chowk Johar Town, as a result one of the car driver, who was later identified as Waheed, died on the spot while the driver of another car escaped leaving his vehicle behind the scene. Police handed over the dead body to his heirs after completing the legal formalities and impounded the cars. Two men were found dead in different parts of the city.
Lytton Road police recovered the body of a man from Chowk Churburji and Civil Lines police recovered the body of a man from Queen’s Road. Police claimed that the both the men, yet to be identified, were addict who had apparently died of excessive use of drugs. Bodies were shifted to morgue for autopsy.
Household items worth thousands of rupees were gutted into ashes when fire broke out in a house in Shafiqabad police station area. Cause of fire in the house of one Abdul Wahid of Khokhar Road was said to be short circuit.
Upon being informed, the firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished fire after hectic efforts. No casualty was reported in the incident.
