NANKANA SAHIB - Unidentified armed culprits kidnapped Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member of Punjab Assembly Rana Jamil Hassan late on Friday night while he was on his way to Islamabad.
According to his brother Rana Wakeel Hassan, MPA Rana Jamil along with his wife was away to attend the funeral of a close relative and was on his way back to Islamabad when unidentified armed kidnappers took them away near Sial roundabout at Pindi Bhattian Interchange.
The kidnappers blindfolded the couple and took them away to an undisclosed location, however, they freed Rana Jamil's wife in Rawalpindi with a message to arrange Rs 50 million ransom amounts. They have also threatened the MPA's family with serious consequences in case the payment is not made to the group within two days time.
Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has sought report from Inspector General Punjab on MPA Rana Jamil's kidnapping. He instructed the IG Punjab to undertake all the possible steps for his release.
Reports said Police has launched an investigation into the abduction of Hasan who was elected to the Punjab Assembly from PP-174.
